Château Yquem

45 kilometers from Bordeaux, built around 16th and 17 century buildings listed as historical monuments since 2003, the Yquem domain, stands out: among Bordeaux. wines, it is the only sauterne to be classified as superior first growth (since 1855). This domain, owned by the same family for the last 4 centuries, settles in more than one hundred hectares, on a sandy clay territory. It has in fact its own micro climate.

Which, results in exceptional wines: grown in reasoned agriculture, matured in barrels during 42 months, made from 75% sémillon and 25% Sauvignon, the Yquem Domain has the reputation of producing the best sweet wine in Bordeaux. This is why the Yquem castle is so popular. Its appellations (Saint Croix du Mont, Loupiac, Cérons, Cadillac and Barsac) are all well known. They are wines that require patience (you need to wait about 15 years minimum to let it get its flavor), it also has a wide variety of tastes: orange, pineapple, apricot, spices... Its capacity to age is incomparable.
